Dr. Jahmario Williams receives awards

Dr. Jahmario Williams, Assistant professor of Mathematics, has received two very prestigious awards in teaching: University Faculty Excellence Award-McCleary Teaching Excellence Award and 2016 COSET Academic Excellence Awards-Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. Williams received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Mississippi State University (MSU). His research area is in Partial Differential Equations, more specifically in the study of the existence and nonexistence solutions to elliptic equations.  He is the first African American to receive a PhD in mathematics from MSU. Dr. Williams’ teaching performance is exemplary. He is very enthusiastic to get engaged with students in order to welcome them heartily to the department of Mathematics, encourage them in the pursuit of their academic careers, and introduce them to the world of mathematics.
